Hester Oberman is the Medical Humanities Liaison for the College of Humanities at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Her research specialities are psychology of spirituality and health and religion and science, specifically medicine. She is trained in The Netherlands and Germany. Currently she is investigating experiences of awe and transcendence as they partake in religious orientation and place as well as a project that looks at the discrepancy between scientific accounts and normative religious views of health in African American Baptist communities dealing with Type 2 Diabetes.
