The Medical Humanities Speaker Series in an effort to relay to audiences the importance of practicing medicine and understanding health through the lens of the Humanities. Traditionally the medical humanities have been understood in terms of building empathy, providing self-care, and preventing physician burn out. While all those goals are important we also believe the role of the humanities is to understand the structural causes of poor health. http://centerforhumanities.ucmerced.edu/
