Gyda Swaney, PhD

Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of Montana

Dr. Gyda Swaney’s training in clinical psychology has focused on trauma, resilience, historical trauma, intimate partner violence, addictions, and client’s interface with the courts. Taught, practiced, and worked both on and off reservations (including her own) and brings to her work cultural, clinical, relational, and professional knowledge. She teaches multicultural psychology courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. She has served as PI or co-PI on service and research grants with goals to increase capacity, provide culturally competent care to AI children and adults, train providers, and deliver evidence based practices to tribal communities.
