Sneha Mantri, MD, MS

Fellow, Movement Disorders, Department of Neurology, University of Pennsylvania

I am a neurologist at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in the care of people with Parkinson disease and other movement disorders. During medical school, I completed an intercalated master's degree in narrative medicine at Columbia University, and have used that training to examine the role of the humanities in medical education. In particular, I'm interested in the concept of identity transformation -- the ways in which medical students transition into their roles as full-fledged doctors, but also the ways in which a chronic illness, like Parkinson disease, transforms the lived experience of the individual and the family.
