All health sciences students at Creighton University (2000+ students) will be invited to join a reading discussion group on graphic medicine. We will begin with a pilot in which we will read and discuss Taking Turns: Stories from HIV/AIDS Unity 371 by MK Czerwiec (“Comic Nurse”), which illustrates the intersection of illness and culture from the perspective of lived experience. Faculty/staff facilitators will help lead discussion groups on Zoom. Pending NEH funding, we will continue with a non-credit, online course on graphic medicine, featuring four more books, through the fall.
