To present a broad look at narrative medicine, including narrative in clinical practice, curriculum and teaching, and honing practices of litsening, observation, and storytelling.

This interdisciplinary symposium presented a broad look at narrative medicine with opening and closing keynote lectures, break-outs and workshops, and a theatre plenary session. Sessions – led by faculty, staff, and students at WFU, NOVANT Health, and UNC Chapel Hill – were grouped under three categories: narrative in clinical practice, curriculum and teaching, and honing practices of listening, observation, and storytelling. Also featured was a poster gallery of work by students, faculty, and clinicians: “Show & Tell: Journeys Through Medicine.” 222 attendees registered for the symposium, with twelve (12) hospital/health care networks, 22 universities, and five (5) states represented.
