Medical Humanities Committee

University of Miami

Explore ways to more intentionally incorporate the humanities into medical students’ coursework and co-curricular experiences.

Prompted by the Miller School of Medicine’s curricular revisions and development of a “Medicine as a Profession” planning team, the Center for the Humanities has assisted the School of Medicine in convening a medical humanities committee.  The committee is comprised of faculty from the academic campus who have an interest in the medical humanities.  Members of the committee have been asked to discuss various options for more intentionally incorporating the humanities into the School of Medicine curriculum and is considering a medical humanities master’s program and pathway as possible actions. The committee has met once so far during the summer 2019 session and is planning to meet again in late August 2019. Sponsored by Miller School of Medicine, Center for the Humanities.
